After finishing all my exams for the term, I finally had some time to catch up on some chores and errards. On the Sunday, I made a good kid and mowed the lawn like my mom told me to and filed my taxes like my dad told me to. Two more things to cross-off on my to-do list!

After that I decided to cook diner, which is something I haven’t done in a LONG time. Now, its nothing fancy, just taking some leftover BBQ chicken and making a meal out of it.

Kevin’s 30min Quick&Easy Chicken Meal

BBQ Chicken

Green Salad

Chicken Vegetable Soup

Rice

Okay, so the only thing that I really made was the soup. I tore all of the meat from the chicken bones and started a soup base with the bone rack. Then in another pan, I sauted some onions, broccoli and tomatoes with olive oil. After the onion caramelized, I threw in the vegetables into my chicken soup base. After letting it simmer for about 10 mins, I added some parsley and tada! Now you have nice and easy chicken soup.

Lastly… set the plate for four. Mother bear, little sister bear, little brother bear and me.

While I’ve been playing around with the immensely popular keystroke launcher, Launchy 2.1.2, I found out that it actually doesn’t index my bookmarks from Foxmarks. What a bummer! So apparently, Foxmarks doesn’t actually save your bookmarks on disk. Its all stored in their database.

Fortunately, there’s an easy way around that… Here’s what worked for me:

Open up Firefox

Click Bookmarks, and the Click on the Import and Backup button

Now export your bookmarks (with Foxmarks and all) to the following path
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[something.default]\bookmarks.html (Note that this is the path for Windows Vista)
(for example, my path is C:\Users\Kevin\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sddpbnrh.default\bookmarks.html

In Launchy, open up the options and make sure “Firefox bookmarks” is checked off on the plugin page

Lastly, rebuild your Launchy catalog!

Now I don’t know if there is a better way to get around it, since this means that everytime you add a new bookmark, you’d have to repeat the process… But hey, this is a nice 5 minute fix.

Tonight after LE’s exec meeting, Gina, Shannie, Kelly, Daisy, Karen, Claire and I all took the skytrain back home together. After Karen had left us, the rest of us went about and continued our pleasant conversion. Just then a drunken Irish man interrupted us and started talking about how we live in Canada, thus we should respect the country and speak English.

Wow. I am sorry if we were being loud on a skytrain. If someone was to reprimand us because we were talking to loud, then I’d feel guilty and apologize. But at that moment, all I felt was furious. I believe it was an extremely racist remark. If we were his buddies from Ireland speaking Irish on the train, would he have told us the same? If we were a bunch of European-looking kids speaking Dutch, would he have told us the same? What if we were tourists visiting Canada? What kind of impression would this man leave to visitors of Canada?

What he probably expected us to do is to shut up and feel guilty, but I say no! If you’re ever put in this type of situation, (assuming that you are in a safe area) don’t let these racists have the last word and make you feel bad.

“I’m sorry if we were being too loud, we should have been more considerate of others on the skytrain. However, I find what you just say to be extremely racist. We have the freedom to speak in whatever language we want in Canada. Canada’s multiculturalism, its respect from different cultures is what makes us love this country. I would really appreciate it if you would not ruin this experience for anyone else. Again, I apologize for our behavior. Thanks and have a good night.” — That’s what I would have said if I had the guts to say it.

As we all know, gas prices are soaring and so are the cost of everything else. For us students, cutting back on food money is one of the easiest ways to save money. Well, we all know the best savings comes from home-prepared meals: sandwiches, bento and etc. Sounds good, but if you’re like me (lazy), you don’t have time to prepare meals at home. So the solution is to eat out on campus, but find the cheapest deals to fill that tummy of ours!

1. Subway
Subway? Yes, Subway. Some might be a little skeptical about Subway being the cheapest, but really, its the best price I can get to fill me up (somewhat).

For a footlong meatball/cold cut/pizza sub, it costs $6.71. Now if you have a friend, you can split the cost at about a$3.35! Can’t get much cheaper for that amount of food. (Albeit, Pie-R-Squared’s pizza is less than that, $2.25?)

Anyways, my personal favorite is the meatball! Its pretty tasty and its warm, for those who don’t like subway, thinking its too cold. What I usually get is lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, Jalapenos, topped with Chipotle Southwest sauce (+ Mayo occasionally). Its full for flavor and heat, and its healthy too! I’m not kidding you, that’s the ONLY thing I get at Subway. The only thing to be careful of is that this sub is very saucy, so it will get wet and soggy if you don’t eat it soon. Get the cold cut instead if you need to save it for later. Anyways, do try “Levi’s Spicy Meatball Sub” and save while you’re at it!

Next: Pie-R-Square’s Potato pizza are to-die-for!

I have a Stat midterm tomorrow (which I don’ t really care) and I had originally thought my CS313 assignment was also due tomorrow. I was prepared to work on the assignment till late night, but it seems like the gods (aka CS313 prof) has magically extended the deadline to this Friday.

That means I get to study my Stat midterm (which I originally did not plan on studying for, lol), right? Right, which is why I’m blogging right now. As for the assignment? I’ll worry about it tomorrow. =P

Ding Dong my blog is dead!
Later I found out (through my new found black hole of time, aka Plurk) from Patty and Grace that its been dead like that for a while. Talk about neglect.

While I could have tried to decipher what that error meant and fix it, I’ve decided to abandon it and start a brand new blog! This time I’m hosting it on my own paid server, so I imagine this will be its permanent home. Plus side is that I no longer have to use the sub-domain from freehostia.com! This URL is much more aesthetically pleasing. I also intend to make my own WordPress theme, so I get a little practice with HTML, CSS and whatnot. That is yet to come, once I get my hands on Photoshop.

After the two midterms I had on Friday, I decided to treat myself to a little shopping, which I’ve denied myself of for quite a while. Plus I justified going to Metro-town because I needed groceries from Superstore. I had asked a whole bunch of people from LE on Friday to go shopping, but I realized I never told them where to meet me. I thought, “they’ll just call me when they get there, right?”
Well it turns out that none of the girls called me, and in the end, it was just Tim, Howard and me. Now an all-boys shopping trip has a few perks..

No waiting for girls to look at female-only stores

No carrying heavy shopping bags for girls

Sharing 2 for $XX deals!

The only downside to boy shopping is that it lacks the gossip and 三八-nes fun that the girls have. (Like checking out cute guys together. XD)

Originally, my target for this trip were stripped deep-V tees and skinny grey pants (@ American Apparel), but I ended up four ringer tees from Old Navy at a cheap cheap price.

$5 Each

ringer tee

We did end up going to American Apperal and I did try on the skinny grey pants that I wanted… But I was hesitant to blow $80 on a pair of pants. They were really nice though, even though Tim thought they were too tight. XD I’ll probably go back with Anthony and get his advice before I buy it.
