While I’ve been playing around with the immensely popular keystroke launcher, Launchy 2.1.2, I found out that it actually doesn’t index my bookmarks from Foxmarks. What a bummer! So apparently, Foxmarks doesn’t actually save your bookmarks on disk. Its all stored in their database.
Fortunately, there’s an easy way around that… Here’s what worked for me:
- Open up Firefox
- Click Bookmarks, and the Click on the Import and Backup button
- Now export your bookmarks (with Foxmarks and all) to the following path
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[something.default]\bookmarks.html (Note that this is the path for Windows Vista)
(for example, my path is C:\Users\Kevin\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sddpbnrh.default\bookmarks.html - In Launchy, open up the options and make sure “Firefox bookmarks” is checked off on the plugin page
- Lastly, rebuild your Launchy catalog!
Now I don’t know if there is a better way to get around it, since this means that everytime you add a new bookmark, you’d have to repeat the process… But hey, this is a nice 5 minute fix.
